The Gadget Show
August 9th 2010
The Gadget Show Program researcher called us last May, having heard about the reputation of the LifeCycle Mountain Sport, he invited us to bring the bike to Scotland to see how it would perform on a real mountain, against other electrically assisted transport.
Of course we enthusiastically accepted the challenge. We knew the LifeCycle Electric Bike was up to it and was confident that it would out perform any of the competition.
(We have tested the LifeCycle Mountain Sport against every other electric bike that we could find and it easily beat them all, so secretly we knew we would win)
When they said the challenge is to be on Ben Nevis in Scotland. We realised that this was going to be a seriously tough test, and the ultimate proof that the LifeCycle really is the best electric bike mountain bike in the world. We always knew it, and now we are going to prove it on national television.
We couldn't wait to get started!
Finally, after all the details such as dates, times, filming schedules, travel and hotel arrangements were confirmed we set off early on a beautiful sunny morning to Fort William in Scotland and Ben Nevis.
On arrival the mountain looked...well mountainous! It is huge. Ben Nevis is the tallest mountain in Britain at 1344 metres and looking up from the Nevis Ranges were we were to be based it was scary. But it was a bright and clear sunny day and ideal for filming, and we couldn't wait to get started.
We were introduced to the crew and the director, and then to the presenters Otis and Suzie. It was Suzy who would be riding our LifeCycle Mountain Sport.
We showed her the bike and she took it out for a ride to get used to it. And just like everyone else who has ridden it, arrived back in the car park with a beaming smile and said "This is excellent, Otis won't stand a chance on the other bike"
It turned out that Otis was to ride an "off road" high powered stand up scooter with a 1000 watt motor and a 20Amp battery.
The LifeCycle motor is road legal at 250 watts and the battery is 17Ah. But we were absolutely confident that we would still beat the scooter, with no problem at all.
The camera and sound crew took ages to get organised, but at last they were ready and so were we.
We set off the start point for some trials to get the presenters used to the bikes and the terrain, and after more long delays while the film crew did what film crews do. Several sandwiches and cups of coffee later they at last announced they were ready.
For the start of the race, Otis and Suzy had to run to their bikes jump on and get going.
But before Suzy was ready, Otis got his helmet on and was off along the track leaving Suzy behind at the start line, still struggling with here helmet. By the time Suzy finally got going Otis was well ahead with a comfortable lead. But Suzy on the LifeCycle caught him up and passed him with ease. Otis on the high power scooter could only watch frustrated as the LifeCycle disappeared up the hill and into the distance.
The Helicopter was filming all this from above and another camera man was on another LifeCycle filming from behind. While a static camera was on the start and finish line.
So despite Otis shooting off early on the power scooter before Suzy was ready, the LifeCycle still came home miles ahead of the scooter.
They were expecting a close race, but, it was a whitewash! The LifeCycle just slaughtered the power scooter. And afterwards everyone wanted to talk to us about our fantastic electric bike.
Back in the car park a crowd had gathered to watch, asking loads of questions. Everyone wanted to have a go on the electric bike, so we stayed there till late afternoon giving demonstrations, and letting everyone have a go. Then we went off to watch the filming of the Kayak race for another part of the program.
It was a really great day. The presenters, the director and all crew all loved the LifeCycle, and after the race they also all wanted to have a go on the bike.

Its all very well us saying how good the LifeCycles are but we prefer to hear what others say about them.
This is what the press and media have to say.
