When your bike is new it will need to settle down, and just like a new car it needs to be treated gently at first. After a few weeks the gear and brake cables may stretch a little causing the brakes to become a little softer and the gears not to change so nicely. This is normal stuff and is easily corrected with a little adjustment. The gears and brakes have adjustment screws built into them for this very purpose. If you feel confident to make these adjustments yourself, click on our maintenance page for help and advice, alternatively call our help desk on 01280 236 540 and we will do it for you, free of charge.
You should check your bike regularly and make any adjustments that may become necessary to keep it in full working order. Keep an eye on the brakes, they wear slowly and you get used to them so you may not be aware that they are not as effective as they were when the bike was new. Once a year, book it to our service department for a complete and comprehensive service. Dont forget to clean it. A bike that is all shiny and clean seems to go better and it will certainly look better. Never wash it with a hose or power wash. Just use some soapy water and a soft brush, or better still some bike cleaner. And when it is clean, a little bike oil on the chain and gears will keep your bike running sweetly. Check over the tyres for any damage or things stuck in the tread. make sure the tyre pressure is correct. Refer to the hand book that came with your bike for the correct pressure. And of course check the brakes. Look closly as you operate the brake lever to make sure the brakes are working corectly. and that they stop the bike with out a problem. The LifeCycles have disk brakes and the tolerences are small, so they only need very tiny adjustments. If you need any help or advise please call our service department on 02380 236 540 Take care of your bike and your bike take are of you.
